1088. Issac Hill Sr
The earliest proven ancestor of his family.
Died testate in Chowan County, leaving a will dated March 3, 1710. (Secretary of State Will Book 2, pg. 33
He mentions his ill health and the following children: Michael, Isack, John, Nathaniel, and Martha. The sons were llisted in descending order according to age. The two eldest sons were already living on the land given them by their father's will. Nathaniel was not of age at the time the will was made and he is left to the care of Capt. Robert West. The sons Isack and John appear to have been very young adults, as their father wishes that they stay on the home plantation wtih their sister Martha until they are better able to care for themselves.
The earliest reference to Isaac Hill mentions him as a landodwner in 1708. However, there is a reference in a Bertie County deed to a survey for a draft of land to Isaac Hill on March (May) 25, 1699. (Bertie County Deed Book F, pg. 157)
He may have lived as late as 1713 when an Isaac Hill, signing by his mark, witnessed a deed. (Chowan County Deed Book W #1, pg. 126)
One of the names appears in the Higher Court Records, County Court, bringing suit in June, 1863, and as a juror in September, 1683. Also Isaac Hill was appointed to appraise an estete in Ocgtober 1697.

Bartholomew was the immigrant ancestor of this family. (He is not listed as a headright in any of the published patents in Virginia. He may be the same individual found in the IGI - Bartholomew Vigers, son of Urbanus and Katerine Vigers, christened 18 February 1643, Bishops Tawton, Devonshire. There is no proof of this, but the surname does occur in both Devon and Cornwall)
