"The picture of the family - we figure Grandma Margaret Patton was pregnant at the time the picture was taken because Anie is not in it. Lester is the baby in her lap. The two girls are Bertha and Rety (Rita).
Grandma died when Anie was 3 months old of typhoid fever. Grandpa Patton married Thenny and Sybil and Leonard are the off spring from that marriage. The second pictrue of the family is the only one we found with Anie, as a child.
Grandpa Patton died of sun stroke while working in his garden." Written by Lea Smith.
Bro. Patton was called to ordination by Salem Baptist Church of which he was a member. The presbytery was organized by electing Elder James Denney moderator and James Rorie clerk.
Bro. Patton related his call to the Ministry. He was found to be sound in the faith and the Presbytery, after prayer, preceeded to lay hands on Bro. Patton and set him apart to the full work of the Gospel Ministry.

"!OBITUARY: Margaret Patton wife of Sam Patton and daughter of William Elijah and Nancy Jane Denton. After a few weeks illness with typhoid fever departed this life Oct. 11, 1902, with something like heart trouble. Her case was not thought to be of alarming gravity as in substance was expressed by her attending physician, after a stated time for taking medicine for which purpose she raised her self in bed and immediately on doing so life became extinct. Thus ends the life of one of whom it can be said had all the characteristics of a true and devoted companion. A kind and tender hearted Mother, a generous and abliging neighbor, she was never boisterous but modest. Temperance, patience, prudence and kindness were some of the cardinal features of her life. She leaves a heart stricken husband and four small children, a mother, five brothers, four sisters and many other relatives to mourn her demise. Her remains were laid to rest in Bluffton Cemetery in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and friends there to await the resurrection morn. Her Uncle."7Etta Baker, Genealogy note hand written by Etta Patton Baker, 20 Jun 1986.
